Miami Weekend

During the last weekend of my vacation in Florida, I took a road trip to Miami with my sister's family.  With any vacation, the important things are relaxation and good food.  Plenty of that during the weekend.  We stayed at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Doral, FL.  We heard that Tiger Woods golfs there but he was away that weekend at the PGA.

We didn't golf but spent most of Saturday lounging by one of three pools:

lounge pool

My niece and nephew had a great time because the resort pool had a 150 foot slide called the Blue Monster.  Justin was on the slide from 9:30am-4:30pm with a short break for lunch!!!  I went on the slide a few times too and I had to admit, it was a lot of fun!

During the entire weekend, we got to try a variety of latin food.  On Friday night we wanted to go to a Columbian restaurant that Rachel Ray recommended on the Food Network.  When we got to the address, we found out that it had become a nightclub instead!  So, just as Rachel Ray does, we asked a local resident for a restaurant recommendation.  The parking attendant directed us to a Peruvian restaurant not too far away....first time having Peruvian and it was super!

On Saturday we picked up Cubano sandwiches for lunch and ate by the pool and then later that night we decided to try the Cuban restaurant that Joan recommended.  Here we are at Las Culebrinas...and thanks Joan--we loved the place!

After dinner we walked around the Coconut Grove section of Miami and took in the sights.  My sister noticed a crepe place in the neighborhood so we decided to go there on Sunday for brunch.

A delicious end to our weekend in Miami....we drove back 3.5 hours to Orlando after brunch and after we got home, I went straight to the treadmill!!

Miami Advice

Hi everyone,

Having a great time at home w/ the family!  I'll post details of this past weekend's parties (my bro-in-law's 40th) later but I need some suggestions....we are heading down to Miami on Friday and would like to get some advice on what restaurants and places we should try.  It'll just be my sister's family (the kids are 11 and 8 yrs old) and me...Dad is working on Saturday and doesn't like to travel so he's staying at home.

Thanks in advance....although I'm from Florida, I don't know much about it!

Florida

Just got off the phone with my niece and nephew, Deborah and Justin.  They are excited that I'm coming home tonight to Orlando and doubly excited that their mommy is letting them meet me at the airport!  They are so cute!  I'm looking forward to spending some quality time with them and the rest of the family too.  I haven't seen them since Christmas and since they are on summer break, we have a lot of activities planned...will try to post as the days go by.

And before I sign off...congrats to the Yoo's!  Aiden is here!  :)

2006

Yes, I know...we're halfway thru 2007 but I finally have a computer that is sort of working and I'm able to finally post some pictures.  Here's a small sample of what happened in 2006:

sanfran

Trip to San Francisco in May for a pediatric research conference.

phillies

Dad came to visit us for a couple weeks in June.  Here we are at a Phillies vs Mets game (Phillies lost of course!).

wedding

This is for Ebae!  Sorry it took so long to show you a picture from Cathy's wedding in Boston (Wendy on the left is a college classmate too).  Surprisingly, I had a good time being a bridesmaid!  :P

boston

A typical brownstone on Commonwealth Avenue.  After Cathy's wedding, Wendy took me around Boston....I had forgotten that it's such a nice city!

bbq

My brother-in-law Phillip and my nephew Justin, the grillmasters!  During my winter visit to Orlando, we had a great steak dinner that was grilled to perfection.  Looking forward to visiting again in August....

frosty2

Finally, meet my sister's family dog, Frosty.  I think Youn Su looks forward to seeing him more than the rest of the family whenever we visit Orlando now.

Hopefully, 2007 pictures won't take so long to post!  Have a great weekend!

Funny!

At work, the nurse manager across the hall just put up a sign:

"Middle age is when a broad mind and a narrow waist change places."

I'm working on preventing this for as long as I can!
